Time Frame for VAF1 and VAF2

Post by USAUK » Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:07 pm

Hello,

My wife is a UK citizen and I am a US citizen. We have been living together in the US for 3 years and are planning to return to the UK in 2008. We are wondering when we should apply for the VAF2 and the VAF1 (or form INF4) in order to secure a leave date at the end of August 2008. We don't want to apply too soon and be forced to leave before this date, but don't want to leave it too late either.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Hi,

The usual time frame for postal applications in the US seems to be about 1-2 weeks. I also wanted to point out that you can have the visa postdated by up to three months. So, you could apply in May 2008 and have them date the visa for August. Just make sure you have set dates if you post date it; you won't be able to go until the date on the visa. hope this helps.

Why are you using both the VAF1 and the VAF2?

You should use VAF2.
