Advice please

I have a friend in the UK who married a Turkish man, they married in Turkey and she did eventually get him a visa so they could live together in UK. It became clear just after he arrived that his intentions were just to get his freedom and she has now left him after he beat her up. His initial visa runs out in December and although she has contacted immigration and told them of her circumstances she has not heard anything from them. Does anyone know how to get his visa revoked and him removed back to Turkey. Any advice would be most welcome and thanks in advance.

Well if he is on two yr FLR, ie spouse visa, he's illegal now if the marriage isn't subsisting, and he definitely will be when visa expires. He can't get ILR without his wifes sig, so he's at the mercy of working illegally, and at risk of deportation if caught.

Best to leave it and hope the system does it's job.

Well I hope she reported his offense to the police because certainly criminal activity is another basis for rejection of any further visa extensions and ILR.
Ditto to Wanderer's comments. If she has reported to HO of the situation, then there is nothing else to be done.

Tell the police immediately of his behaviour - if the incident happened a while back and it is too late to report it (which is very unfortunate), keep a record of his behaviour and hand it in to the police or any other relevant authorities.

She's informed the Home Office/BIA so there isn't much she can do on that front.

If it is a spouse visa, then she can refuse to sign the ILR (permanent residency) form, and, having informed the HO (hopefully with details about him, such as his BIA/IND reference/application number), they should know that they are no longer together. Best thing for her, if she doesn't want to be with him anymore, is to get the divorce proceedings started....if there is no hope of reconciliation and other such stuff.

Technically...once partners have divorced, the visa is nullified. However, when they separate (and are not officially divorced), it is, to my knowledge, a grey area as to what happens to the partner's visa status (i.e. is the visa void or still technically valid?). So, since she won't be supporting his ILR application, he would have no way of staying here, unless he applies for a work visa in his own right, but that would have absolutely nothing to do with her and their marriage.

yes i agree , thats she needs to tell the police and what a shame another one of those type just looking to come to the Eu for financial benefit i think she needs to start divorce procedings if this guy is a jerk , and i dont like guys who beat their women

there seems to be little patience these days and this is common form turks , kurds and asians
lot of domestic violance and wife beatings and honor killings and the bad part is that they are muslims and we know that this is not allowed in the islamic religion

also the sikhs they are known wife beaters too
its a shame
men need to know how to deal with the women and not break her

i definitely do feel for thos women who are oppresed

Everyone is a candidate to be a wifebeater or being beaten so let's not start picking out any particular group. Perhaps some cultures turn a blind eye to it more than others but those cultures are not any worse than any other in terms of potential to being wifebeaters

I second SYH's comments here. Sadly, badmaash, there is wife-beating and other types of violence in all cultures, or virtually all. It may also be exacerbated in some cases when people move out of their own culture and therefore away from the ordinary support system. That is not to excuse it, but I really don't think that we ought to be singling out one group or another on these forums.

Nothing would give me more pleasure then to see him get deported back to Turkey. This man has conned us all making us believe that he loved her until he got his feet on UK soil and then he changed. He took her away from all her friends by convincing her we were against him and then convinced her to remortgage her home and set up a business far away from everyone she knew. They say love is blind and in this case it is very true until the fists started to fly and she woke up. She is now thousands in debt and trying to get her life back on track but all the time she is scared in case he comes after her. It is such a shame that they cant just pick him up because knowing him like i do it would never surprise me if he just dissapears into the system. Thanks for all the advice so far.

there is no more advice to give but to tell you to move on too.
There are plenty of wifebeaters who are duplicitious and psychologically damaged. What you describe is the standard MO of a wife beater and you and her being pyschologically dependant by fixating on him, report him and move on. The best revenge is living well

Wife beating has nothing to do with race, my first husband (english) used me as a punch bag for many years. This original post is very much like my situation. I am married with a young son, I reported my husband to the home office and received a reply from them 3 weeks later stating that they had noted my information and that it would certainly be used against him. I would maybe double and check and ensure that they did receive the original letter.
