Query regarding permanent address change

Post by pktamil2007 » Wed Oct 03, 2007 4:34 pm

Hi All,

Recently my permanent address has changed. Before applying for EC is it required that we have to get the address change done? Do they do some verification for permanent address?

The UK is not (yet) a country where one is required to register one's residential address with the authorities when one moves like most countries in continental Europe.

In reality the only verification the Home Office can do on an address is to see if the address actually exists, but it is impossible for them to verify if someone actually lives there.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Although, if appropriate, you do need to go on the electoral roll.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
