Business Visa Extension

Hi All,
I am currently in UK on a business visa and going back to India in 2 weeks time. But I have to come back again in January next year.
My Business visa expires in mid feb. But my visit will last till April end.

Can my business visa be extended before i travel back to UK or will i have to apply a long term visa?
