UK 2 Year Spouse Visa - Important Question..

Post by a7jvd » Tue Dec 11, 2007 2:04 pm

Hi there,

I am a British citizen and my wife came to England from Pakistan in May 2007 and she has a 2 year spouse visa at the moment.

When I was in Pakistan with her in April 2007 the High Commission in Islamabad informed us so late her visa has been accepted that we could not travel within the 30 days of them allocating the visa because they informed us to collect visa on day 28 or something! Anyway I was told by the British High Commission in Islamabad that she can still travel late but when she applies for indefinite stay there is a fine to pay? Anyone know how much?

Second question and very important because we are hoping to go to Pakistan next week for a couple of weeks and I am aware that while she is on the 2 year spouse visa she needs to stay in UK for 2 years before she can apply for indefinite stay but as far as I am aware a holiday is allowed but can anyone tell me how long she can go for without risking further fines?

I was told if she goes over 4 weeks there will be a fine but I don't know how accurate this information is. Also if she goes for say 4 weeks does she need to make that time up before she applies for indefinite stay?

Your help and support would be much appreciated I am always busy working and if I can get an answer here instead of going to an Immigration lawyer that would be ideal :)

Thanks in advance.

Ali
