Argentine visitor to the uk

Post by monki » Sun Dec 30, 2007 6:01 am

Hey guys wondered if anyone knew the deal about argentines coming to the uk as visitors. My father has agreed to be a sponsor and can prove that he has the funds to let my friend stay in the uk for 6 months and live in our family home. My argentine friends father is also willing to prove that he can help him financially. Does anyone know how difficult uk immigrations make it for argentine visitors as i know they dont need visas. Do they need to show cash in hand upfront as well as bank accounts?
any help much appreciated

He's not a professional polo player is he? If so, tell him not to carry his boots, spurs and saddle in his luggage. :)

The source and amount of funds is only part of the matter, and if the funds provided are disproportionate to someone's circumstances in their own country, the Immigration Officer will start to wonder why such expenditure is being incurred, or whether the funds will still be at the passenger's disposal once he has been let into the country.
Equally important is whether it is appropriate for someone in the passenger's circumstances to go on holiday for a whole six months - for example it might be for an 18-year-old finishing school before going to university, but would it for a 30-year old factory worker with a wife and 2 children??
These are some of the considerations that will weigh on an IO in deciding whether or not someone is genuinely coming just for a visit, and will go home at the end of it. A sponsor can only make a limited contribution to a passenger's credibility, it's really up to the person him(her)self.

Notwithstanding my commencing facetious comment, Argentinians should be judged by the same criteria as any other nationality
