British Citizenship - eligibility and process for Partner.

Post by mr_pankaj » Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:47 pm

HI Friends,

My wife acquired ILR along with me (on the basis of my 4 years stay in UK).

Now that, I have British Citizen and she has lived in UK for 3 years (i.e. as a partner of a BC) with ILR stamp, I understand she is elligible to apply for Citizenship herself.

My question:
1) Will she need to take the same test (Test of Citizenship) that I took before I got my BC(after having ILR for 4 years) ?
2) Will she have to appear for any interview ?

thanks

Hi,

Have you been in the UK 4 or 5 years? The answers are:

1/ Yes, she does need to pass the Life in the UK test
2/ The interview is for applying for a british passport, not naturalisation. Some people are still getting away without having to go to one.
