UK visa for EU spouse

Post by chizac2 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 12:24 am

Hi, I have been reading this forum and find it very helpful. I have a question

My boyfriend who I met a year ago when he came for his family visit. We have been together since however he only comes to UK on his holidays as he is working in Pakistan. I have advised him to look for the job here in the UK and he is currently here looking for a job. The problem is that it is very difficult to find some one who will sponser him.

My question is, I am Polish Citizen and been living in UK since 13 months. Before that I was in Ireland for 2 years. I am working full time and all that.

The situation in Pak has been worsening recently and I do not want him to go back.

Do you think we can live together here.
Can I marry him on his Visit visa. it is valid multiple entry 5 year visa.
Can he get something like working permission.

Thanks for your advice

UK visa for EU spouse

It may be possible for you and your boyfriend to marry whilst he is in the UK as a visitor, but he would need to apply for a Certificate of Approval, unless you intend to marry in an Anglican church. After marriage, see also Applying under European law and European Casework Instructions > Chapter 7 - Accession State Nationals.

so its possible he can do it, I just confirmed he has like 5 months left for this visit as the visa only valid if he goes back in 6 months and then come back again

So he can do this in this trip

If he has a 5 year multiple entry visit visa then he can only spend 6 months out of every 12 in the UK. If he leaves after 6 months then tries to re-enter on the visit visa within 6 months he will be refused entry.

The best option is for you to marry then for him to return to Pakistan for a spouse visa/EEA family permit.

thank you,
I just do not know why have they made is so difficult, in order for your to live with your love ones you need to marry them straight away. why can you not simply get a permit to live together for atleast two years and then get married.
any way I guess I will have to do this in order to keep him here
