LOST PASSPORT/VISA

I will appreciate if someone advises me on this. I am in the UK on HSMP and will become eligible for ILR on 31st March 2008. I went to enrol my son in college in Sept 2007. On completion of the enrolment we discovered his international passport missing.
I reported this to the police and also informed the homeoffice. I was advised to obtain another passport and apply for a new visa using form NTLTOC.

We are in the process of obtaining another passport, however my thinking is that obtaining another visa now with the ILR due in March will constitute a waste of money. The homeoffice confirmed that he was granted leave in line with my mine in the letter they wrote to me. Will this suffice when we apply for ILR?

I intend to apply in person at the PEO come March 2008.

You will be able to present a passport confirming your son's nationality and identity, and a letter confirming that this person has LTR as your dependant. You'll have a copy of the police report, and BIA should have your letter on file.
That looks fair enough to me. I wouldn't waste your money on an application for effectively 2 months, as you would be applying again up to 28 days before expiry.
Don't you have a copy of his old passport and the LTR endorsement - and yours and all your family? I keep paper copies of mine, and also on a password-protected memory stick, which goes with me anywhere in the world.
