Visit Visa Advice for my Wife's Parents

Post by srcenalav198 » Tue Oct 24, 2017 1:10 pm

Hello all,

New to the forum and this is my first post,

I am a UK citizen and my wife is a Macedonian citizen and we both currently living and working full time in the UK. We arrived here in June 2016 coming in on a successful EEA family permit application which we submitted in Germany in May 2016. Upon arrival in the UK we applied for a UK residence card for my wife but it got refused in February 2017. We appealed the decision (they refused us on false grounds claiming we circumvented our way in despite them initially accepting our transfer to life in Germany as genuine because of the successful EEA permit application) and we recently got our hearing date to be in April 2018. Naturally we were and still are devastated as we are essentially stuck in limbo waiting for all this to end. Even if we are successful in court we may still have to wait a couple months for the residence card to be issued and finally having the freedom we deserve. Which brings me to my point for this thread....

Due to this long and complicated process and being stuck in limbo without the ability to travel, my wife has not seen her parents since March 2016 when they visited us in Germany over 18 months ago. We desperately want to see them and the only way at the moment without abandoning our current application is to attempt to secure them visit visas to the UK. We are going to try but I have a few questions and I am hoping some of you can help if any one has been in these circumstances before -

Can we make a joint application for both her mum and dad together with the same supporting documents or do we make the application separately and note in the application that they will be together?

I am reading a lot that what the UK want most is proof the visitors will return to their home countries. My wife's parents own a house in Macedonia but the Dad is retired with a small pension and the mum works for herself selling clothes so therefore no contract for employment. They can prove they own the house and they have a bank account but they do not have much money in fact very little. They have another daughter and newly born granddaughter in Macedonia. They have lived in their city all their lives and have birth and marriage certificates. Mum is late 50s and Dad is late 60s. They both do not speak one word of English. Is this enough evidence to show they will return or do we need more?

Also my wife and I live with my parents in the UK. We have not got our own place due to the uncertainty with our residence permit application. That means currently there are 4 adults living in a 2 bedroom house. If her parents are to come my wife and I will sleep downstairs and her parents will have our bedroom. Will this be a problem when proving accommodation? Will they complain the house will be overcrowded even though everybody is happy with these arrangements should the application be successful. Her parents will only come for around 10 days or 2 weeks maximum. My wife and I and my parents all work and we can prove that we can finance them. All have been in our current jobs for more than 6 months.

Please if anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Document Checklist

Post by srcenalav198 » Sat Nov 25, 2017 12:30 pm

Hello,

My parents-in-law have their appointment on Monday to hand over their passport and documents for their UK visit visa application!

Just a question regarding the document checklist that UK visa provide for you to print out... Do they need to fill it in before like ticking the boxes and explaining the documents or do the staff at the appointment centre fill it out? Or is it all done at the appointment centre? On the checklist itself it says do not 'sign' until your appointment however there is still the box ticking and the descriptions to be written.

My parents-in-law do not speak English so if they need to do it there they will not be able to give a description of the documents as I have organised it all for them and as I am in the UK I cannot go with them to the centre?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
