Change of name for Asylum seekers and Refugees

Hello.
Need a help.
I have been granted a refugee status recently.
BRP card received on the same name as in my foreign passport (Belarus) . Home Office refused to amend their records on my "new name" or rather a different spelling of the name which I used in the UK since the day one (diplomas, taxes, accounts, employment history etc.). They said it cannot be done because you are still have a valid foreign passport. For the obvious reason I cannot approach my ex-authorities to update my foreign passport (political prosecution).
It is a catch 22 situation. To get your BRP on a new name you need to change your foreign passport but you cannot approach your ex-authorities because you have been granted a refugee status.

Any ideas?

FYI:
- The new name is the same as on my birth certificate (English translation of the Russian name).
- The foreign passport name is English translation of Belarusian name which in turn is a translation of the Russian name). Crazy...
