I want to change course. Particular problem. Please Check.

Post by Moi » Tue Jul 01, 2008 9:55 pm

I am a foreigner on a student visa in the UK since a month and a half. I have been studying a Diploma in Computing for the past month leading on to a Bsc in Computer Science. I am hating the course and I really feel like dropping out. I wish to study pharmacy at university for this year's October intake.

My questions are:

1. Can I change course/institution that soon?
2. If yes, is there anything I need to do such as informing the HO?
3. Can it create problems?

Also there is one more thing which may be of importance. I am currently with a British-born citizen whom I met 2 years ago during his holidays in my home country. We were since then in an LDR until I came to England. We are planning to get married soon. Should it be difficult for me to switch the course and institution, shall a civil marriage with my partner make things easier for me? We intend to get married anyway and if it will be easier for me to change course by getting married to him we can get married sooner.

Please advise me. Thank you.

Did you really do that? Post a reminder after just 28 minutes? Please be aware that everyone posts for free on this Board, and yes, people are allowed to sleep. A lot more patience required.

I'm sorry. It's the first time I'm posting on this forum and I assumed replies were quite quick. Quite a number of people had viewed my post as well which made me think no one wanted to reply. My apologies.

As a student, you should inform the UKBA and obtain their consent prior to the course change. See also [2007] UKAIT 00061 ML (student; "satisfactory progress" - Zhou explained) Mauritius.

See also SPOUSE VISA REQUIREMENTS ..within uk.

After being granted FLR(M), you would be free to change courses or work.

Thank you. What do they usually need in order to approve the change? I would like to do something like pharmacy or optometry at university. I already spoke to a few unis. I would get in if I apply. Would I need to show financial documentation at the UKBA again?

Hi,

You have to notify the Compliance team in BIA Croydon and send the new enrollment letter from the new uni.

BIA might ask for proof of attendance/progess from previous course though.
There is a good change this will be approved as you've only been on Computing course for couple of months.
