BRP Lost in Italy

Post by falukhatri » Mon Dec 30, 2019 7:29 am

Hello,

Unfortunately we are stranded in Italy while our BRP (my wife and my daughters BRP) got stolen along with the bag.

We have a flight to catch from Milan to London later today. I read somewhere in older posts that a few of members had success in France train stations where they were allowed to board and go back, based on the police reports of theft. We got police reports and copies of BRP.

Will EasyJet allow us to go through and then immigration authorities in Italy ?

We have reported BRP loss to UKVI through email and have also applied for new Visa BUT Visa appointment with TLS Connect agency is taking us to next 7 days for appointment and then time for visa approvals etc. That means stay back here in Milan for next 10 days which such massive issue for us and daughter losing school plus my work.

Any advice or suggestion please ? Thanks so much !!

Hello

Sorry for this :( Do you have your passport or was it also stolen?

It's unlikely that EasyJet would let you board to the UK without the necessary paperwork.

The reason why someone told you France is that in some of their train stations, they have the UK Border Force checking the passengers bound to the UK.

I was recently in Lille, I took the Eurostar to London and the control there was operated by the French police and the UK Border force. I know they operate also in Paris, Gare du Nord. If you get there, you might be able to talk to them. If you negotiate hard, they might let you board. But you need to travel to France which is not easy if you don't have any document on you.

Hello,

Sorry didn’t share an update...So, we had passports but BRP was stolen as I explained .

Now as part of process , we had to apply for new visa for UK working Italy , but was unacceptable as we would have to wait for Biometric and Visa process of at least 10 days.

We decided to follow our plan and on designated date of departure , we went to Milan’s airport to fly to London on EasyJet.

Obviously EasyJet asked for BRP , but we explained the situation to Check in staff and showed her our copy of BRP , passport , documents like UK bank account statement etc. She agreed to take out matter to Italy Immigration authorities. She went off for 20 mins and came back to me with a phone in hand as she had Immgration officer on line .

UK Immigration officer sitting in Italy side asked a few questions verifying our real situation and after getting all details , she asked me to wait for another 20 mins suggesting that she needs approval from UK side of immigration.

Good news...EasyJet check in counter lady came back after 20 mins and told us we are good to go and fly to UK...and also confirmed that message has been flashed to UK side immigration to let us get in London.

All worked out smooth...we got back to London .

Key here is to make sure you have Police Report of loss or theft, photo copy of BRP, a few bills showing you are living in London , your flight tickets / journey.

That’s it ...not sure if we were just fortunate to get this approved as exception but key here is to make sure you pursue it through Airlines and explain them issue and also suggest them what they can do to help.

Take care and be vigilant....Anything stolen won’t come back , and the only help Police will do is to stamp and sign your loss report. Dont expect anything else from Police...!!

Hope this helps...
