Returning to UK after being on 5 year route visa

Post by Brumpton » Mon Jan 20, 2020 2:27 pm

Hello,

My wife is American and immigrated to the UK on the 5 year spouse route. Before her last visa expired (upon she would have been eligible to apply for British citizenship) we had decided to immigrate to the USA instead. We moved to the USA in September 2019 and her visa for the UK expired in November 2019.

So my wife was not an overstay and I presume in good standing with the Home Office.

My question is, we would like to travel to the UK for a couple of months in the summer, will a visitor visa be a problem for my wife seeing as she was previously a long term resident? I have not been able to find any information on people who were previously on a marriage visa returning to the country.

Many thanks
James
