Min. Bank Balance For Student Visa?

Post by saadabbasi » Sun Aug 17, 2008 11:10 pm

Hello,

Is there any minimum bank balance requirement for a student visa? The bank account of my father (and sponsor) started with about £53000 and in the course of three years went to £33000 - through many withdrawals and deposits. The account has had many transactions.

In June of this year, he withdrew a large amount of money and the balance went to less than £500 (the account remained at this balance for 2 months). However, since I am going to re-apply for student visa he recently deposited £60000 so I won't have any problem like I did before.

My total course fee is about £50000 (of which I have already paid £8700).

What I am worried about is, will the ECO look suspiciously that there have been large deposits made within a week just before applying for the visa? I should add that the account has maintained an average of at least £30000 to £40000 over its lifetime.

The money in this account comes from property deeds and inheritance. So large withdrawals and deposits are often.

Please advise. I'm completely lost.

I'm sorry, I must be a complete idiot.

I have read the paragraphs you stated again and again, yet I have not come across anything which talks about my situation - of large recent deposits.
