Switching Work Permit Dependent Visa to Student Visa

I am a work permit holder (and so my son has a work permit dependent visa) and I am finishing my working contract in UK and returning to my home country. My son is a student at a university in London. How to switch his visa to Student Visa ? is there a way to make it in UK without the need for him to travel back to our home country to make this process ?
