ILR long residence then Naturalization

Post by Nazz » Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:09 am

Hi

I have a question regarding naturalization, did get my ILR on March 2006 on the bases of long residence 14 years.

Here is my immigration history:

Came to UK with a visitor visa (six month) November 1990
Applied for asylum on January 1991
Asylum application refused mid of 1997
Applied for ILR on December 2004 (Long residence)

My question is can I apply for British passport now or do I have to wait till I pass the 5 year period?

I have read on this forum that if I have applied for asylum before the expiry of my visitors visa then I don’t have to wait 5 years, is this true?

Please advice

Nazz,
You will have to wait a full five years now from the date of your ILR was issued.
