Hi,
I applied for UK GTV for 5 years duration. When I applied I had 5 months of validity on my passport. When I will travel, the passport will have 2 months' validity.
When I went to give my biometrics, people in VFS said my application may be rejected as I do not have 6 months of validity. Being a new applicant, I was scared and absolutely clueless about what to do. I have already submitted IHS for 5 years for myself and my dependents. If I had not given my biometrics and walked away, I would have received the application fees quickly. However, my IHS payment (almost GBP 9000) would have been stuck for weeks/months. After taking stock of things, I submitted, gave biometrics, and asked VFS to process my risk.
Today I received the confirmation email for my visa. I did not find any mention of this 6 months rule on any govt website in the UK. Some visa solicitors and consultants have kept it on their websites. Please be very careful about whom you are believing in. Always ask for an authenticated source.
