Maintenance Fund

Post by GoforUK » Tue Jan 06, 2009 3:09 pm

I am married and I am going to apply for General Tier 1. I am planning to go alone first and then bring my family after 6 months. For the manintenance fund , the pbs appendix states that I should have 2800 pounds + 1600 pounds+ 1600 pounds for my wife and kid, if they intend to join me within 12 months of my date of travel.

For the past 3 months I am having around 3.5 lakhs in bank account. Now my doubt is is that sufficent for me to apply for HSMP now or should I have around 5 lakhs even if my family is going to join me later this year?

Hi,

That amount is sufficient for you and probably 1 dependant. Check on the VFS site for the exchange rate.
Also it is not necessary that your dependants need to join you immediately or make an application with you. It can be done later also
The only criteria is if they are joining you before 1 year then either you or they need to maintain a balance of 2800 + 1600 + 1600 pounds in your case.
