Urgent immigration issue!

Post by vitalbeam » Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:39 pm

Hello lovely people am wondering if anyone would help me get pass this issue.

I am frequent traveller and have been coming to the Uk for holidays and where I come from ( Nigeria) have a kinda tradition that only son’s get married early and the parents choose the brides for them. I begged to differ on the tradition, armed with my visitors visa I found my self in London because of the marriage pressures and that made me overstay the required 180 days.

I reconciled with my folks and they said I can marry whoever and whenever am so inspired but then the damage has been done and on homebound to my country my visa was cancelled. That was four years ago precisely.

My sister is getting married this april in London and I don’t want to be the only left out on that regards

How do I go about jumping this hurdle and have a good old ale?

What age were you when you overstayed?
How long was the period of overstay?
When you left the UK, you say your "visa was cancelled". Does that mean it was a 2-year or 5-year multi-entry visa?
Apart from the cancellation, were you actually served with papers as an overstayer (Form IS151A) and removed from the UK, or were you leaving anyway? Who paid for your trip home?
Is it actually 4 years since you left?
