Hi I really need help, my story is complicated

It is for my cousin we are in the UK. She has pakistani nationality. Basically she was coerced into a nikkah via facetime, to a guy in pakistan. So he could come here. After he came here there were instances of abuse from his side.

The issue is we dont have the original nikkah certificate just a copy. Now in her papers he is listed as her spouse. I just want anyway to acquire or original or to start this divorce asap.

Contacting the embassy feels useless, the solicitor cant proceed without the original. it feels like we are walking in circles. To get one thing I need something else.

Try contacting citizen advice and/or a women's shelter - it is not uncommon for abusive partners to hide official documents, you do need a certified copy to apply for divorce in the UK. Could you get this from the Pakistani authority who issued it, maybe with help from a trusted contact that lives there, if the embassy is not helpful?
