No more BRP issued after 31st Oct

Post by friendankit7 » Wed Nov 06, 2024 10:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I recently applied for ILR under the 5-year Skilled Worker visa, and I'm happy to share that it was approved today!

In the email from the Home Office, I was informed that BRP cards are no longer being issued and that I should use my eVisa to prove my immigration status. Previously, I had an eVisa for my Skilled Worker visa, which was valid until January 2026.

To check my updated status, I used my old BRP, and my eVisa now shows "Settled" with no expiry date, replacing the previous Skilled Worker visa status. I've also added my passport as an identity document in place of my Skilled Worker BRP.

I wanted to check if I need to make any other updates in my eVisa account now that I have ILR.

Also, I’ll be traveling out of the UK soon and returning in mid-December 2024. Since my old BRP is valid until 31st December 2024, can I still use it to show my visa status if the airline asks? I'm aware that some airlines may not be familiar with eVisa yet, so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

BRP can be used until expiry date. Suggest you board flight beforre 31 December.

UKVI has already provided guidance to carriers more than a month ago. Your old BRP is technically cancelled as you got ILR but it may allow you to board the plane. The eVisa is now accepted for boarding a plane without any issues.

UKVI guidance to carriers about eVisa was issued on 30 September 2024. It tells them what they need to know and follow when it comes to visa checks. An eVisa is accepted proof of status to board a plane to the UK as well as any valid BRP:
2.3 Visa Checks
If a passenger holds a digital eVisa, they may no longer have a physical visa or other permission document to inspect. The receipt of a 0A (board) message is satisfactory evidence of their permission to travel to the UK.

Some passengers with eVisas may also hold a physical visa or other permission document.

Some passengers may still only be in possession of a physical document providing proof of their visa or permission to travel. In these cases, you will receive a 0Z or 0B (check) message from the Home Office. However, presentation of a valid, genuine physical proof of permission also remains satisfactory evidence of a passenger’s permission to travel to the UK.

Hi @friendankit7

Did you have to re register after ILR for Evisa or you logged in to your previous one (old brp) and it shows updated status?

Thanks

In my case, I've registered eVISA with my passport before I receive the BRP after ILR got approved.
It does show that I've got a 'settled' status as shown in the BRP, which delivered to me later after getting registered eVISA.
