Will Different Travel Dates Affect My Next UK Visit Visa Application?

Post by hussainahmed » Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:34 pm

Hello everyone,

I was granted a UK Standard Visitor Visa valid from 1st December 2023 to 1st June 2024. In my previous visa application, I mentioned that I planned to visit the UK from 22nd December 2023 to 31st December 2023. However, due to personal reasons, my actual travel dates were different:
  • Entry to the UK: 20th February 2024
Exit from the UK: 19th May 2024
I followed all visa conditions, did not overstay, and left well before my visa expired. My concern is whether this discrepancy between my originally stated visit dates and my actual travel dates could impact my next UK visa application.
  • Will this difference raise any red flags during my next application?
Should I include an explanatory letter with my next application to clarify this?
Any insights from those with experience or similar situations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

There may be questions about the reasons for a longer stay than originally stated (three months actual stay vs one month stated stay) and what such a longer stay in the UK means about your strong ties to your country of habitual residence.
I am not a lawyer or immigration advisor. My statements/comments do not constitute legal advice. E&OE. Please do not PM me for advice.

Thank you for the insights. Do you think it's a good idea to submit an explanation letter for this with the visa application?

I don't think you need a letter to this effect. Travel plans change frequently. Also you haven't been to the UK in 9 months, that shows that you're happy doing what you do where you live.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
