Post and Home Office

Post by UKhome » Tue Mar 17, 2009 3:52 pm

Thank you in advance for your advices.

I have one question regarding the receiving date of documents at the Home Office. I am applying for the citizenship now so would like to be exact with my dates. If I send out documents on Friday (17 April) with next day recorded delivery service, would the Home Office acknowledge that the application reaches them on Saturday (18 April) or Monday (20 April) as their office would be closed during weekend?

Sorry for tedious question and many thanks again.

I don't think that they can receive documents/mail when they are closed.

Thank you Vinny.

I managed to get through to the UKBA yesterday to address my concern over the phone.

In case any one is interested in the answer : UKBA apparently is open to receive the documents on Saturday but items won't be scanned into system until Monday. They would, therefore, take Monday as the date these documents reach them.

I suppose there won't be much point in arguing that there will be a slight difference of delivery date on the systems of the mail company and the UKBA.

Good luck everyone and thank you for such brilliant forum.

It says that you should wait 5 days after submission before leaving the country so there is indeed no room for discusssion

Sorry did not make clear earlier. My question was more to do with matching the " physical presence" in the UK 5 years back counting from the day the UKBA receives the documents. I happened to travel quite a bit that month in 2004 so will need to be absolutely sure...
