Question about Tier 2 Transitional Arrangements

Ok, so, apparently, my current leave comes from the old work permit system so I fall under the transitional arrangements due to not having to worry about maintenance fund, advertising/labour market test, etc. Now, what happens if they eliminate Tier 2 completely and use it only for shortage occupations, would I still be protected under Transitional arrangments and be able to extend my visa to complete my 5 year requirement?
