Bank statements for visitor visa

Post by js1000 » Tue Sep 15, 2009 7:24 pm

I'm sponsoring my girlfriend to come over on a special visitor prospective student visa. Do the bank statements I provide have to be originals or can they be copies?

I have tried to send over my original bank statements documents but they never arrived so I've had to include copies instead. Will this be a problem?

May or may not be! They much prefer originals, though! People have been refused because they did not provided original bank statements.

Thanks for the reply.

I have written in my sponsorship letter that they had to be copies because of the time it takes to send letters to such as remote part of Colombia.

I did try and send an original letter and it never arrived.

They might let you off with the reason you've given and accept the copies.
But then again, they might say if you knew that it was such a remote place, you should have made a more concerted effort to get the originals there in time!
The onus is on the applicant to make sure that all the documentation is in order!
Fingers crossed, it will all go well. Good Luck!
