Marriage Indians and Being Apart

Hey everyone,

Been getting some great help from these boards and found the route to getting married and bringing my wife across.

Was also wondering as we dont want to be spending time apart, How long will the Spouse Visa take?

Will she have to wait in India whilst they do their assesments or can once applied can she come on a temp visa of some sort. Im worried it will take months.

Can we also start the process now and send in the cheque later as I wont be home to sort money out till next month and would like to get started as quick as possible so that she can be with me in December.

Trying to work out the possibilities, if its going to take a long time have been considering getting a tourist visa for her and visiting family and friends in Spain if it takes longer than December.

Your help really makes our lives so much easier.

You have to pay at the time of application. Visa processing costs money so the fee pays for the admin costs whether or not the visa is granted.

The average waiting time in India is currently about 2 months for a settlement visa.

My advice is to apply for settlement rather than the others that you have mentioned as doing that would be a waste of time and money. Dont even bother thinking along that route.

If both of you meet the requirements, its a straight forward application, most of which are granted straightaway.

2 months..

in the philippines settlement visa's for many were taking 3 months, last couple of weeks people have been getting them in 9 days, 5 days and NEXT DAY ! ..

i know manila is now a visa processing hub for parts of Asia, but whats going on ? have they stopped doing 'local checks' - police checks ??
