Two work permits at one time?

Is it possible for an employee to have a work permit and CoS from two different employers at the same time?

Or is it possible to have two work permits for different employers at the same time?

Would the issue of one cancel the earlier one?

Is anyone able to direct me to any guidance dealing with this on the UKBA site?

I believe it would be possible to have both an old work permit and a CoS at the same time, because the online system for issuing CoS would not have old work permit records on it.

With regard to CoS it is not possible to have 2 with overlapping work dates. One would have to be cancelled before a new one can be issued.
