Strange reply from WP UK

Post by Chris » Thu Aug 04, 2005 10:38 am

I got this strange reply from WP UK.

Once I get my new WP approved my current WP stands expired even if I dont get my FLR done for the new WP. So if I wish to remain in my current job as pursuaded by my current employer they will have to file a new Work Permit.

As I know filing a new work permit does not require anything more than the the candidates name. I beleive if I get my new WP approved and I dont wish to change my job I should be able to carry on with my current employment without any change. If my current employer do not file another WP how on earth are they going to trace this? Of course they cannot trace me merely on my name which is the only information the new WP approval documents has.

Any idea folks?

Chris

Chris

The new work permit application asks whether the worker has a work permit and, if so, for the Worker Reference Number (question 36) so obviously they know exactly who you are.

As they assume you are taking the new job, and since they are not going to give you two valid WPs at the same time, so the first one is automatically cancelled.

Joseph,

Thanks for your reply. I did'nt know that. Rare situation where I have more than 1 offer and there is more than 1 WP being processed at the same time in that case how do I know which one is the valid and which cancelled.

Chris.

andynash,

Thanks a lot for updating the forum for the correct view on this issue (hopefully). I am surprise why did I receive different reply.

I am really astonised and it has strengthen my belief that the staffs working at WP and HO definately requires proper trianing. At least they should have the courtesy to say that he/she does not know the answer for a particular question.

Joseph any comments on this issue?

andynash,

I would suggest you not to relax and try calling WP at least 2 more time. If you get the same answer all the time then you may be more confirmed and then leave the rest to GOD :)
