misspelt name on ILR letter

Post by marka » Tue Mar 16, 2004 11:08 am

Hi all,

I recived ILR at Croydon a few weeks back based on 4 years of work permit. Looking at the letter that came with the ILR a few days ago I noticed that my middle name is slightly misspeled. The forename and surenames are spelt correctly, but the middle name nas a t where there should be an f. I rang the home office was told to send in the ILR letter together with a copy of the passport data page and an explanation of what I needed and the ILR letter would be ressiued. I am somewhat sceptical as I know the ILR letter is rarely reissued even in if it lost or stolen. I don't want to part with my mostly correct ILR letter and then never recive it back. I intend to make copies and so on, but the original is better ofcouse.

Has anyone ever had an ILR letter re-issued or been in a similar situation?

Marka,

Send in original ILR letter and copy of biodata and ILR stamp pages with required action cover letter as advised by Home Office using special delivery. HO may not like to re-issue status letters and in some cases don't legally have to but you are entitled to one if you can prove it is you and hold ILR. An alternative is to take a trip to Croydon but IMHO posting would be o.k. - don't sweat it  .
