How to bring Egyptian girlfriend here?

Post by Hamzizi » Thu Sep 30, 2010 12:56 pm

Hi folks.

Im not sure if this post is in the right area of the forum, so feel free to move it if needed.

I am after some help please regarding bringing my Egyptian girlfriend to the UK.
I met Ghada after i was working over there for the last few months. I am now back in the UK, she is still in Egypt applying for a passport. Would i need to sponsor/invite her?
I have been self employed for several years now, and could support her. I dont recall the last time i ever claimed money from the government so i have not been on benefits. My house is owned by my parents so accomadation is not a problem. She speaks fluent English, has spent 7 yrs at college in Egypt and has a bachelors degree in architechural engineering.
What type of visa would we need to apply for etc.. Any help would be gratefully received...

Mark..

Is long term relationship on the cards? And is that the purpose of inviting her to UK?
See Fiance(e)s.
Unmarried partner visa requires the couple to be in a relationship akin to marriage for at least 2 years.

If it is just a simple visit to the UK, then she may apply for visit visa. Alternatively, she may apply for Tier 1 (General) if she qualifies. Or apply for Tier 4 (student) visa to study in the UK.

Thanks for your reply & help so far. Yes a long term relationship is the purpose. The fiance section made interesting reading, but is that a particular visa, or be classed under another?

I apolagise as this is all new to me so may need it speling out... :?

It is a specific visa under the settlement category.

Fiance(s)s endorsement:
ECB13.1 Visa endorsements and conditions > Leave to enter endorsement and list of conditions required with each code wrote:Type of visa | Cat | Endorsement | Code | + POL | Duration | Add endorsement field | ECG Chapter

Fiance(e) / Proposed Civil Partner | D | Marriage/CP | 3 | N | 6 months | add initial and surname of fiance(e) / CP | 13
Person admitted as fiance(e) is not allowed to work in the UK during the validity of the (fiance(e)) visa, is required to marry during the validity of the visa and then (subsequent to marriage / civil partnership) apply for leave to remain in the UK as spouse / civil partner of the person settled in the UK / British citizen.
