COA and expired visa

Post by scotland86 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 4:06 pm

I am hoping someone can help. My friend is getting married and has applied for a COA which we are yet to hear if its been approved or not. But her current student visa expires at the begining of November and the wedding isn't planned till December and she thinks that the COA will allow her to be in the UK even through her visa has expired,is this true?

Thank you in advance for your hellp

The COA gives no legal status...it's simply an approval to marry. If her visa has expired she'll be unable to switch to spouse from within the UK after the marriage.

No, she will be an overstayer if she remains in the UK after expiry of her visa.
