ILR / NTL Lost Pasport

Post by spythedude » Sun Jan 16, 2011 5:59 pm

Hiya,

I lost my passport a few years back and have only managed to sort my new South African Passport out.

I have been in the UK for 15 years and was granted ILR in 2000. I have been living here continuously for the 15 years.

I still have all the original documents with my ILR details from the home office stating I have been granted ILR.

I know I need to get my new passport stamped but I am reluctant to send it off as I need to travel back home to South Africa on the 13th of april 2011 and heard some people waiting for 14 weeks or more for theirs to be processed. So the 14 week wait is not an option

On the letter for ILR it says I can travel with that document but would need to satisfy the Imigration officer once I return that I have am a U.K resident.

I have a letter from the inland revenue showing I have been paying tax etc continuously since 1997 and letters from employers etc stating continuous residence etc plus the last 10 years council tax bills.

What do you think I should do? Do you think I should try for the NTL stamp or risk travelling on with no stamp and just the supporting documents.

Hope someone can ease my mind or at least give me some advice.

Thanks,.

Well a bit of an update on this. I have decided that there is no point in sending off my passport to Croydon and since I live in Liverpool, I might as well just pay for the PEO service.

I have it booked on Wednesday so hopefully everything will go smoothly.

One problem I have is on the NTL form it says I need the police report or lost property number if my original passport was lost or stolen. I sent that lost property form off when I applied for my S.A Passport and I have not received it back.

Surely this is not really needed or do you think its something they will refuse my application for?

Cheers,

Bit more progress on this. I managed to get in touch with the S.A High Commission who gave me the Lost Property number that they had on file. they said that they only have a copy and the original will stay in South Africa.

they gave me the number and said they would send the copy in the post.

I am guessing that the number will be enough as on the NTL form it says Police report or number will suffice..

You think that will be it?

Talking to myself a bit here! :D
