I have a british overseas citizen passport and a passport from my country of origin.

I have got my HSMP approval and I understand that I need to apply for EC eventhough I am in the UK as a dependent of WP.

Is it possible for me to apply EC through post using one of the passports?

Not directly relevant to the issue at hand, but you should know for future reference for when you should obtain ILR.

As a British Overseas citizen, once you reach the usual 5 year residence mark (with ILR for 12 months) you can apply for *registration* as a British citizen rather than naturalisation.

Registration is simpler (no Life in the UK Test, for example) and quicker, as registration applications get priority.

If your "other" citizenship is Malaysian you would likely lose that upon becoming a British citizen, however that might not be a problem.
