ILR - based on 10 year stay - please help

Post by Diet Cole » Mon Mar 27, 2006 9:17 pm

Hi

I am hoping to apply for ILR but I am not sure if I am qualified to do so and I should be grateful if you would help.

I came to this country over 10 years ago and I spent most of the time being a student. The problem is that I was away from the UK for 16 months until last September - however, I hear that if I intended to come back to the UK, I maybe qualified for residency. I was away but was working for a foreign office of an international English law firm as an intern intending to gain legal experience prior to my legal study (I have been back in the UK to study law since last September) - does my 16 month away from the UK make it absolutely impossible for me to be eligible for ILR?

Thank you very much.

Just to add, I visited England for job interview purpose twice during the 16 months, wonder if that helps.

Might be reasonable if you can provide any medical proof to say that u had to stay at home for medical purpose or etc...otherwise check with solicitors.
