No record of absense

Post by zahid.ali.anwar » Thu Jul 21, 2011 12:01 am

Hi,

My friend is in deep agnoy. He is on Tier 1 general visa in UK.

Already had one extension to his visa. He was working for a famous UK brand as their country manager in Pakistan. He stayed there for more than a year. In addition to this, he had various trips to other european countries for his job. Last year he has started his own indenting business. and the routine of foregion trips is the same.

He showed me his passports. Both of them are approx complete with entry exit stamps on every page. Even so, the stamps are comingled and you can not figure out the dates from them.

Is there any chance that we can get the absence details from UKBA. becuase I was thinking that once you apply for ILR you have to show your compete absence record and they telly it with their record.

Can SAR help in this type of cases?

Please advise....

Thanks,
The question is... to be or not to be....

SAR may contain entry, but not embarkation, dates.

In my SAR, which I received last month, the only record they have provided is the date of my first entry (August 2001). No landing cards, no other information about leaving or entering.

In fact when I made the SAR I specifically asked for entry/exit dates along with the copies of landing cards but no such info was included in my file.

I have recently sent my SET(O) (10 years Long Residency) and worked out my absences by using entry/exit stamped by the authorities in my country of origin.

In theory, SAR file should contain your entry dates. In practice, it depends on how good/bad their record keeping system is. There's no harm in getting the file to see what information is available.

I 100% agree with you Vinny, the good thing about my SAR was it confirmed no gaps in my stay. Also it is always very useful to have all or most of your docs handy in such a situation.
