WP or HSMP? 2 passports

Hi, I am currently in second year of my WP which is valid for 5. I also qualify for HSMP.

1) My WP leave to remain is in passport A. I also have a passport from country B for which the HSMP application is free. If I was to apply for HSMP with passport B, is it is possible to hold both a WP FLR and a HSMP FLR at the same time in different passports?

2) If not, how long after the approval of HSMP does one have to switch their WP leave to remain onto the HSMP one? 6 months?

3) As general advice, given that I still have 3 years on my WP and with HSMP I would only get 1 year and then need to extend, which one should I go for? I am not going to switch company, but am worried about the new immigration changes that might be pushed which could make it harder to get HSMP extensions..... Of course, HSMP does give slightly more comfort if one loses job, but I could always apply if that does become the case (unlikely).

The other interesting question here, is if u spent 2 years on a WP on the one passport, and 3 years on an HSMP visa in your other passport, would the 5 years together in seperate passports count towards ILR?

You need to think about that as well.

I guess it depends on whether Home Office treat you as a single person irrespective of which country passport your visas/leaves were in. It would be very strange if the scenario you mention is not allowed - but then again, nothing about HO surprises me any more

So I will add that as 3) to my original list.
