My ex partner took my child british passport and her birth certificate and left us , I have no idea where he is , he is dutch and he is the one who have applied for her passport , my daughter is nearly 2 years, I'm an overstayer ,someone advised that i can apply for another passport( a duplicate) ,my questions are
are they not now going to ask much more questions about me ( I'm an overstayer) , am I not going to get deported?
can I just apply for a duplicate without the father?are they going to have to find the dad for his consent or approval?
please help me , I really need a second opinion.
thank you so much

The missing child is matter for the police rather than a discussion forum. As for your immigration status, you would need provide much more information to this community if you expect to hear anything relevant or helpful.

I don't believe the child is missing...just the passport and birth certificate!

You can't apply for replacement / duplicate passport without reporting the current one as lost / stolen. If your partner has taken away your child's passport and is himself untraceable, you will need to check with the police whether you can report the passport as stolen in such case.
That said, the following poses another problem for you:
If your child's passport is lost or stolen in the UK wrote:If your child's passport is lost or stolen in the UK, you should report it on their behalf using an LS01 form. Note that IPS will compare your signature with the signature on the original passport application form. If the original application was made by someone else, you will need to send a signed letter from them with the LS01. The letter should confirm that the original passport has been lost or stolen. This is to reduce the risk of child abduction.
If the child was born in the UK, you can order a birth certificate through
GRO.

thank you for the reply , she is not dutch but british , I have already applied for the birhth cert and got it last friday, my worry is about the passport ,
I was told that I can apply for an another one , explain in a letter the situation .
but I'm worried that it will alert them of my overstayer status and that they will need the father consent to reapply for it .
thank you

Missed noting that initially but realized my mistake (therefore I have deleted my post that referred to Dutch embassy and their requirements).
The information posted above is relevant for British passport (click on the bluish text in my response above).

So a lawyer sent the request for the replacement passport for my daughter explaining everything in a letter.
this was 4 weeks ago , and since then nothing. I'm really worried and would like some advice , as my lawyer keep on saying that they told him that they will do some checks. Does anyone knows what kind of checks they normally do it has been 4 weeks ,please help me.
I just want to add that the lawyer called IPS before sending the application and the explanatory letter was their idea.
thank you

A LITTLE UPDATE AND QUESTIONS PLEASE.
My lawyer called the IPS to find out the status of my daughter's passport application and they told him that it shows it has been processed, when he asked for more information about that , they told him that 's the only information showing on the system ... processed..
Now I read people's experience of them calling IPS and being told that the passport is in print but I have never read passport application processed.THIS is really bothering me , so I decided to ask the very experienced people on this forum for advice.PLEASE DONT IGNORE ME.

if you have a lawyer then he really is in the best position to advise you on what is going on.
