A likelihood of changing rules for ILR

Post by capricorn22 » Wed Aug 23, 2006 9:52 pm

I'd appreciate it if anyone could express his opinion about an issue which seems important to me at the moment.

The thing is, I'm going to get an ILR next year in November as I'll have 5 years on work permit at that time and I'd like to know if a new point-based system might apply not only to those who get their work permit for the first time, but also to people who get an ILR.

I mean if I might need to have enough points for my education, salary level and a letter from the company that they can't find anyone from EU instead of me in a way that will be required for the Tier 2.

In particular I'm worried about whether I need to increase my income to be on the safe side and work more than I do,which is not easy, or that is not necessary at all.

If so,what is likely to be taken into consideration: the income on my P60 form or a few last payslips?

Or I just need to wait patiently till my 5 years without any worries as the rules regarding an ILR are unlikely to be changed?

The latest indication is that the new points-based system will be introduced for work categories in April 2008, after you will hopefully get your ILR.

And no, those with ILR will not need to be concerned with the points-based system.
