Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) wrote:Visit/Holiday Visa

NOTE: Visit/Holiday visas are granted ONLY for short term stays. The duration of stay is determined by an Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry, but will never exceed a maximum of 90 days.

It is not possible to extend your stay beyond 90 days.

You must leave the State on or before the date which has been stamped on your passport by the Immigration Officer. (The dates on your visa refer to the dates during which you can seek to enter the State)

Yes, you can change from being a visitor to being a student and it would not technically be called a visa- more like permission to remain as a student which is a bit different. You need to register and pay the fees, get a letter proving this, and you need to take some bank statements showing you can support yourself. Essentially if you can show the money its no problem at all.

good day

I sincerely appreciate the replies. Just to confirm all I need is to provide proof that I have sufficient funds to support myself and to pay my college fees? Would this include my South African bank statements i.e. current /credit card statements?

good days

i am extremely confused about the requirements for a student visa. My friend who is currently on one says that one does not need to have a sponsor with access to 7000 euro annually. she says that all she has been with is her bank statements and proof of regstration from the college. now, i have taken a look on a few links which say differently. i dont want to waste loads of my hard earned cash only to get there and told to provide a letter from my sponsor. i have just about enough for my course and to survive but not an additional 7000euro's seriously! any help suggestions/ comments please..regards
