Citizenship application processing time- based on residence vs marriage

Post by mexicanking14 » Wed Mar 20, 2024 6:35 am

Hi,
I am looking for an advice. I can apply for naturalization based on my residence (over 10yrs now) or based on marriage to Irish citizen. Is there a difference in the processing time between the two?
It will just help me get the application started.
Thanks

There’s no indication either one is quicker.

Many applicants say residency proofs are easier than marriage, as it is just more of the same documents. Marriage involves proof of relationship and spouse’s compliance with residency, so a number of different types.

But it’s really down to personal preference. The naturalisation awarded is the same, both require ceremony attendance, cost is the same.

Yes, the there are fewer documents required when compared to appl based on marriage. If there is no difference in the processing time, then it makes sense to go down the easier route.
Thanks for your advice.
