Registering Permission to obtain Permanent Residence Document

Post by Corkyboy » Sat Mar 22, 2025 2:25 pm

Hello,

My wife got a letter approving Permanent Residence on first week of Feb.
She's non EU wife of Brit.

She was instructed in the approval letter to "Register your permission" using inisonline, so filled in "Application for registration renewals" on inisonline, and its showing "Application complete" on the portal under reg renewals.

We asked if everything is ok with this online, so just wondering if we have done correctly with Registering Permission, as haven't received PR card yet, or been asked to attend? ie, did we do the right thing by using "Application for Registration Renewals" as the way to " Register your Permission"?

How long does it usually take to get the card after approval?

Thanks for any help

Hi,

If you filled out the renewal application form and uploaded the required documents. (Both spouses ID/Passport, Permission letter, front/back of IRP and proof of address) then you dont have to worry.

Application complete just means you have submitted the application.

*We will email you a unique application number (OREG number) and a payment receipt. Keep these in case you need to contact us later. (UK spouses don't pay a fee)

**If your application is successful, we will email you to let you know.

***We will send you a new IRP card within 10 -15 working days

****If we need more information, we will let you know.

****If your application is unsuccessful, we will email you to tell you why. We will return the fee if you have paid it.

Thanks for that Angel. Sorry to bother you with this.
Just I feel responsible.

Was just expecting to be contacted telling us we needed to visit Immigration to check our passports and get a stamp, but be great if we don't have to.

Does it take a couple of months to get a Permanent Residence card, after approval and registering online?

And can she apply for citizenship as soon as she gets PR?

Thanks again.

After permission letter, registering online, receiving approval email for IRP, the card will be sent to you within 3 weeks. In some cases it can take 4 weeks.

*You don't attend/receive a stamp in the passport for renewals.

You can start the process for naturalisation with your current valid IRP. When you receive the renewed IRP, you just update the relevant office with an evidence of it.

Approval email after registration can take couple of days or few weeks.
