Would Dual Citizenship effect EUFAM? British and Irish

Post by npayne27 » Tue Jan 28, 2020 10:34 am

Hi,

I am British, but I can get Irish Citizenship based on my family. I want to apply and get an Irish passport. Will this effect my husband and mother-in-law EUFAM rights because I am both Irish and British?

Should I wait to become Irish after they get their permanent residence cards? Husband will get his in 2 years, mum-in-law awaiting review decision for refused EUFAM 5 year permit.

Thanks

If you are already exercising your EU Treaty rights, no it wouldn’t affect their existing EUFAM. Otherwise, yes.
