Ireland - First time passport applications timelines -2021

I wish you the best on your application and I really hope you Don't have to go back to queue again. But please Don't get your hopes up. The same happen to me, they wanted me to re-submit a document, I was told I won't have to wait another 8 weeks, but unfortunately I did and I am still waiting.
I am only sharing this because I know how it feels to have your hopes crushed.

I can already see what's going to happen though. The documents I provided for proof of name/address will pass the 6 months threshold of validity by the time they get around to my application again ha.

Fingers crossed they're already "ticked off" and it's just a case of speaking to my witness!

It's actually other documents. A support document from embassy.

Also, it's not 6 months yet. Hopefully I'll get it before then

I applied on 29/06/2021, documents were received and status changed to "processing" on 12/07/2021 with passport issue date of 4/08/2021. I asked for an update on my application through the webchat today and was told that my documents have not even been scanned yet, 6 weeks since "processing" has began.
I guess 8 weeks more like a timeline for May-June applications.

How did you contact web chat?

I went to https://www.dfa.ie/passports/contact/, scrolled down to a "web chat" area and was refreshing the page regularly until a box with speech bubbles changed from "website agents are busy" to "available". Have your application number handy, you will need to enter it. I tried to get through before with no luck, but yesterday at about 2:30pm I finally managed to do so. Don't be annoyed if it shows you that your turn will be in some ridiculous 220 mins, it changes quickly, reducing waiting time. I actually had to wait for about 15-20 mins (originally it showed me waiting time of around 220 minutes). Good luck.

Your 40 business days will be completed on August 26th not on August 25th. You need to consider August bank holiday as out of office time. Nobody really knows their timeframe. Obviously they work under pressure and try to get through these hard times and try to serve the community as much as they could. Can they do a better service? I guess they can but thats just a feedback from us to DFA

It’s been over 3 weeks and my documents still haven’t been scanned yet.

A week ahead of you and its still processing on the tracker. Only difference is it says one month ago instead of in weeks and the bar moving down.

I am 2 months and two days now and I got through to them via chat.
My dox are scanned and should be checked soon.

Keep looking at your inbox incase documents are required.
Otherwise the status will get changed to printing.
Don't know what does it mean.May be they will ask for more documents.
