Hi Virgo what's your nationality because on the website they just asked for your original passport and birth certificate ? It's strange they are asking you for these documents
Hi drfas. I am pakistani. Yes they only asked me original passport, birth certificate and two proof of address along with a copy of your public service card. Its so weird holding your application for two months and again they are looking for extra documents they would have asked these from the start or can mentioned in the list once in all.

Hi Virgo ,I don’t know if they will accept Urdu id card but you can send along translation hope it will work , I would suggest attest the urdu ID card translation from pak embassy and request embassy to issue you letter stating that urdu card is similar to English card in Pakistan . Thanks

I was chatting to the passport help desk today. I have been told that the average time to scan docs has changed from 5 weeks in average to 6-8 weeks.
I don’t understand how is that possible. People have cancelled their flights and can not see their families. The passport office seems to not care about that.

Hi All. Just a quick question. I submitted online and mailed original documents. Do they return the original documents quickly or do they come back to me with the passport in 8 weeks? USA submission.

Mailed 8/23
delivered 9/3

Thank You!

I received my Passport on the 9th of August - still waiting for my Documents to be returned ; but, I see from earlier posts, that some people received their Documents before their Passport !?!

EDIT - from reading the Irish Passport website ; Document will be returned 3 to 4 weeks after Passport despatched

Documents are returned after the passport is issued, but if you have an urgent reason, you can request for the passport to be returned first. I did that via a written mail and received my passport back in 1 day. I'm not sure if it will still be the same here considering the huge backlog and the fact that your documents are not scanned until 2 months later, but there is no harm asking on webchat.

I needed my Passport to write a very important international professional exam and was told via webchat that there was nothing they could do as they could not afford to allocate staff to sending out docs early. when i pleaded with her telling her it was an emergency, she said my case did not fit the criteria (someone has to die) and she basically disconnected the chat so she could attend to others. but maybe i just ran into the wrong person and u could be lucky

Things were very different before COVID. With most of the staff working from home, sending documents is an extra step that most staff cannot afford to do on a daily basis (except for emergency).

Hi,

Anyone got their passport sooner after the second turnaround time?

Because after 42 working days they asked me for identity form resubmission and more docs. Once they received them they sat the clock to 49 working days to 9/11/2021.

So a bit of an unwelcome update.
They received my docs on 9/3, my status changed today to processing with an estimated passport date of December 11. So my estimate is 90 days if all goes well.

Wow!! 3 months!!! i mean this is getting out of hand no? it wont be as bad if they returned ur original travel documents so u could make alternative arrangements but they hold on to it 4 weeks after the process is complete!! isint there something we can do?

So that is my concern also. Original documents tied up for four months. And its 4 months if there are no issues. And another COVID lockdown is always a possibility. I just wish they would scan the docs and return them.

Okay. So I am an idiot. November 12 is the date. Sorry for the misinformation. Carry on.

Re anyone who has posted about birth certificates. If you did not send one in with your original citizenship application, you must have done an affidavit so just use the same affidavit form for the passport application. Print the same form, fill it out as your had before, and get it witnessed by a lawyer

Congrats!! just wondering if anyone sent in original laminated birth-certs and had issue or no issues. I sent the only certs i have ever used 5 weeks ago (which were laminated from birth) and i fear they will reject it and restart the application clock all over again. Maybe i should be thinking of preempting this before it gets rejected? Also i believe i only sent one document to cover both proof of name and proof of address. All these are a no no on the website

I applied on 29/06/2021, documents were received and status changed to "processing" on 12/07/2021 with passport issue date of 4/08/2021. I asked for an update on my application through the webchat today and was told that my documents have not even been scanned yet, 6 weeks since "processing" has began.
I guess 8 weeks more like a timeline for May-June applications.
I got an update that my passport was dispatched on 14/09/2021. 9 weeks from starting the processing to dispatching the passport.

Kalyna! Did they ask you for extra documents in the meantime?

They asked me for more documents on the 2/9/21 which was 41 working days.

I submitted and changed again to processing on the 6/9/21 and now the tracker says issue date 9/11/21. Very frustrating!

My documents (passport/birth certificate/proofs) have just arrived at my house ; 6 weeks after I received my new Irish Passport...

Congratulations! Do you recall if the tracker reset to the 40 working days when you re-submitted your documents? It looks like it ended up less time for the resubmit, so I'm wondering if the tracker was accurate. Thanks!
