Hi everyone

I sent my application documents but I forgot to have my public service card copy certified. Will there be any issues?

Edit: I also sent in my original passport for photo identification

Thanks

G Dog, Interesting that they told you to still email the no reply email. I wish I had thought of that, but web chat guy told me I had to resubmit verification form all over again via regular mail. So my forms are now heading back to Dublin again. It would have been nice of them if I got an email first saying they were having trouble reaching my witness, at least that way I could have made sure they were available and ready.

Even though my witness was a notary and everything was signed and stamped with official seal, I guess that wasn't good enough. Note, I used a bank manager, I guess my advice would be not to use one since they are notorious for not answering the phone...at least at the bank I used.

Also, for those that are going past due dates, It seems they are running about 2 weeks behind due date for most. Webchat doesn't really help much other than to tell you to keep checking the tracker.

Passport tracker now states my (straightforward) application is complete and shows 100% on the progress bar.

Timeline for info:

Application sent: 26/9/21
Documents received/verifying : 5/10/21
Estimated date of completion : 9/12/21
Further changed to processing : 2/12/21
Printing: 22/12/21
Dispatched : 22/12/12

So about 2 weeks after the estimated date

Impressed with the speed of the final steps and the mail tracking code provided to monitor delivery.

Thanks to everyone who has posted previously - very much appreciated.

Good luck to all those waiting and anyone experiencing bumps in the road to completion

Signing off now and Farewell to all.

question about the first-time application passport, do I have to send the documents when I am applying for that? or can I send the documents after? I will be traveling so I can't send my passport.

You have to send your passport. They've now had mine since September and I'm looking forward to getting it back. You'd best not apply until your travel is out of the way

You apply online then send documents with application that you have to print out. You can send a notarized copy of passport.
Once they receive the application with documents you're put in the queue. 2-3months later, if no problems, they send passport.

Update to my timeline;

Online application: 01/09/21
Documents received Balbriggan: 24/09/21
Processing application: 28/09/21
Estimated due date: 01/12/21
Email requesting more documents: 16/12/21 (Could not contact witness, submit new witness form)
Additional Supporting Documents received Balbriggan: 30/12/21
Original Documents returned: 30/12/21
Processing Application: 31/12/21
New Estimated due date: 07/03/22

Since it appears everything was already checked, scanned and verified, I added a cover letter in hopes that they would fast track the supplemental document to my application in the "pending pile". Estimated due date doesn't give me hope that this will occur but I believe the tracker isn't accurate either.

My application was about a week behind your own, and they did a similar thing with myself - they wanted more proof of ID plus my birth certificate (despite them already having all that, and that being confirmed via the chatbox). I think they're just being awkward, tbh, and Ive only sent in replacements of what they already have. I sent my replacement ID on 22/12 tracked and signed from the UK, but it's still sitting at Heathrow. Pain in the backside. Good to know you're getting your original documents back at least. I'll post another update when my documents finally reach Ireland again.

Update on my situation:

23/09 : Application received
11/10 : Supporting documents received. Processing and verifying.
14/12 : Estimated issue date.
22/12 : Additional documents requested. (Original documents already in Dublin and confirmed via webchat, but still had to send in replacements)
22/12 : Replacements sent to Balbriggan , tracked and signed for from UK.
04/01 : Additional documents received. Verifying documents.
08/03 : New estimated issue date.

I will get there in the end. It's a straightforward application as I am an Irish citizen from birth (not FBR or anything), but seems to be going through a process of Kafkaesque bureaucracy.

For completeness of my timeline for first passport application after FBR:

Irish passport received 24/12/2021 - no signature

Passport ID card received 31/12/2021 - signature was requested

Original documents and original British passport returned 07/01/2021

Good luck to everyone waiting still.

Hi !

I'm not to far behind you yet my documents haven't been scanned yet.

Do you know how many days before your due date they scanned docs in? I was told a few days before due date they would be scanned in. Every agent i speak with gives me a different story so I feel they seem to fob people off with any old story.

Thanks

Hi
I have seen that some people are posting tracking their passports.
How can i do that? is that the same link
https://passporttracking.dfa.ie/
I got a reference number on the acknowledgement letter but its in the form of xxxxxxxx-CITZ-21
and the tracking requires an 11 digit barcode.
Am i doing something wrong here?
Please advice.
Thankyou

When you applied you would have been given an 11 digit application number, and that is what you input. Then you can see the progress tracker. This number would also be in the subject line of your email confirmation when you applied.

Look like you tracking your citizenship application on DFA tracking site . Which is totally wrong if you doing this. Because because there is no tracking seystem for citizenship application .

That seems like a citizenship number, which is different. This thread is for passports.
You can't track your citizenship online.
You can apply for a passport when you get your citizenship and there you'll get this tracking number.
Citizenship timelines are here, for example - ireland/2021-citizenship-applications-t ... 11848.html (2021 topic). Look for topic with similar name and your year to see how long (by other people's information) it might approximately take you.

I seems for most of us lately, they are running about 2 weeks behind estimated due date. Although I was notified via email 16 days after due date (Dec 1) that they couldn't contact my witness, so I had to resend documentation and went back to the end of the line (now Due March 7). Web Chat is not very helpful, they kept telling me everything was fine and tracking well.....
