Had a chat today with customer service - they told that first time applications resumed only in June and not in May ... the waiting game continues ... :(

@ Atlantino, many congratulations to you, really happy for you, wish you the very best, and enjoy your trip home. Wishing everyone waiting kindness and good luck. A lot of people here have come a very long way. Everyone's experience different, some easy while some very challenging. I hope everyone learns to appreciate each others journey and respect them.

Paper application: 2 February 2021
Received passport: 13 August 2021

Thank you so much to everyone on this forum who has provided information and clarity! To all paper applicants- I received basically zero updates and had no idea my passport was even with a checker- it just showed up in my mailbox yesterday! Best of luck to everyone waiting :)

That bar is to fool us ... for me it moved to 80% and then moved back to 60% and stuck there for last one month.
Funny part is - if you do webchat, they will first try to fool you saying that you look at the bar and if you counter them saying it is broken, does not show the current status - they will make a U turn saying it does not take backlogs into account.
Summary - Do not trust the bar, ask status from webchat agents.

Hi Raptor tx
Did they ask for any further documents, if you don't mind me asking what route did you take to get naturalisation?

They haven't asked any further documents. I applied after working here on Critical skills visa for 5 years.

Same as me ,I worked here on stamp1 and then stamp 4 ,no immigration gaps .I work as a doctor so no bad employment history ,I was speaking to someone at work whose relative works in the office and she said they are checking record with INIS for everything .I don't know what to believe at this point

I had a quick chat this afternoon with my college friend who is now working in the passport office. Unfortunately, the daily volume of first-time passport applications is still as high as which they could process, so the backlog isn't going to be reduced drastically soon.

By the way, it doesn't matter how you obtained the Irish citizenship. Whether you got it through naturalisation or FBR or you were born Irish, they all follow the same system and there is no difference in timeline. Staff cannot just decide to ignore your application and work on the next one - the system won't allow them to do that even if they want to. There will inevitably be small differences due to the extra effort required for certain documents such as foreign birth certificates, but the difference is usually a few days at most.

Some applications are faster than others, mostly due to luck. Once an application is assigned to a caseworker, it purely depends on how fast that person processes the application. Some are just slower than others.

People who submitted their applications online in May should see their application getting close to completion in the coming days, and some caseworkers have worked half way through June's applications, but most haven't got that far.

As far as I understand, the only 2 things that they check are the authenticity of the naturalisation certificate, and whether the certificate matches the passport holder. There is going to be a similar check for people who got Irish citizenship via other routes (e.g. for FBR, they need to check with DFA; for post-nuptial applications, they check with INIS etc).

Hi all,

The full timeline of my mother receiving her first passport is on the other thread, she applied as she was born Irish abroad.

She received her passport Saturday 17th July and received her original documents four weeks later on Saturday 14th August in the UK. We’d almost begun to believe they had been lost!

I’m applying for my FBR so will be on this forum for a couple more years I think!

My status turned to Printing today after 2 months 2 days. So their 40 working day waiting times seems more or less correct. I have seen this with few other applicants I was waiting to see this status change by this week. so if you have waited 2 months stay positive you would get it soon.
