DOB Certificate for Irish Naturalization - Any Advice

Post by smohapatra » Thu Sep 03, 2009 9:37 am

Hi Folks..

I had a query from the Citizenship dept and would appreciate any advice from you guys.

Along with my application for Naturalization, I had submitted DOB Certificate issued by Indian Embassy in Jan 2006.

About a year back I had been asked by Dept. to submit by DOB once again.

I did submit my affidavit since i didnt have my DOB Certificate.

Again today I have received a letter from the Citizenship Dept. asking me to submit my original DOB not affidavit.

I don't have original DOB certificate with me and not sure what's the best to do.

Have you heard of any one going through similar situation and what to do.
Appreciate your comments.

Cheers

DOB cert

Post by hussie » Thu Sep 03, 2009 10:56 am

Hi there

I had to ask my family at home to go to the local department of home affairs of my country and request the unabbridged birth certificate. (took about 6 weeks if I remember correctly: South africa) Sometimes its required for visa applications too so it's handy to have it.

Good luck.
Hussie

Hi there..

Wel..I dont think we had the norm to get DOB Certificate in that part of country during 1970's and hence I dont have DOB Cert.

So still not knowing how to approach or explain the dept.

Thanks,

I know it's complicated and also I remember when they sent me a letter asking for my DOB certificate as well.

Would you believe there was no name written on my birth certificate because that's the way it was in the 70's as there was no name written on our birth certs from North India.

So they asked me for the birth cert so then with the help from my parents I got the affidavit from India and also I got the birth cert from the Indian embassy from Dublin and I sent it to the INIS and that was it.

They were happy with that I presume. as they didn't ask me anything else.
