Every application is different and will be decided on its own merits. There is no exact time frame on how long it will take for you to hear back from HO. The guideline is around 6-8 weeks

The normal processing time is 8 weeks so its seems normal processing so some people got an answer within 10 days and some got in five to six weeks.

Can't see any reason to be worried for!

Dear members,

Just to share a good news with everyone, solicitor informed me that our visas are granted. I'm the main applicatant, have a little boy and wife as dependents.

My wife received a 2nd Biometric Letter on last Tuesday 26th April. After discuss with solicitor, they advised just go to postoffice and re-do it, maybe the 1st Biometric data not success upload to UKVI, we re do the biometric again on same day.

Today 4th May, we have this good news. Here are the details:

1. Date application posted 8/3/16
2. Payment made: Debit Card
3. Date payment debited: 10/3/16
4. Date Biometric Letter Received: 17/3/16 (dated: 14/3/16)
5. Date of biometric enrolment : 17/3/16, my wife's 2nd biometric enrolment on 26th April.
6. Approved letter revived by solicitor on 4th May 2016.
6. Date leave to remain valid from: waiting post
7. Date passport n document received: waiting post

Wish all others in this forum have the best luck......thank you.

Does the visa processing only begin after the biometrics are done?

To all the people who have heard back from the Home Office, did your decision letter arrive with or separately from the documents?

Thank you for your reply, Zimba.
Last time with initial application, I got the letter with the documents and the BRP arrived on its own, so I guess the process has changed.

They used to send the BRPs with secure post but it seems they cut back on that. Now letter and BRP are sent together and documents are send separately

Thank you Zacklee.
Does anyone know if section 3c applies to end of AR even if AR is refused?

If you applied for your visa before the expiry date and then HO refused your application after that date, your leave will be extended by section 3C automatically for
- up to 14 days after refusal to apply for AR or
- Until your AR is concluded & served

So if your AR is refused, your section 3C ends two business working days after your refusal is served and then you become an over stayer. Section 3C also ends immediately if you withdraw your AR or if you apply for a new application at any time during section 3C period.

I entered the 50k route in April 2013 switching from post study visa. During the initial 3 year period, my status was Sole Trader (self-employed). I applied for extension with 3 dependents (wife and 2 sons). My timeline is as followings:

18 March 2016: Application posted (old form)
31 March 2016: Payment taken (old fee)
1 April 2016: Biometric letter received (biometric given the next day)
5 April 2016: Letter received from Home Office asking for partial payment (to match the new fee). The payment page from the new form was enclosed which was completed and posted back to Home Office the next day
8 May 2016: Partial payment taken
11 May 2016: Partial IHS refunded
12 May 2016: BRP received by courier while approval letter and documents received by Royal Mail Signed For (dated 10 May 2016)
