Pls HELP!Code of Practice for Graduate Electrical Engineer?

Post by fellowcruise » Fri Mar 26, 2010 10:23 am

Hi All,

My friend has completed his MSc from UK uni and is working as a GRADUATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER with a licensed company. He is on PSW visa now which will expire soon.

There is no category for GRADUATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER in the Code of Practice document by UKBA. The only category close to it is 2123- Electrical Engineer, but the salary requirements of that is quite high (above 28K pa), which obviously is because that will be for a specialized job for an experienced person.

Now the national average of Graduate Electrical Engineer is quite low as compared to above category, and he is paid like any other graduate. So which category should he choose when switching from PSW, as if he chooses the above category he will be required to show extra earnings than what he is currently paid??
:?

Could someone here please help out as there must be others in the same situation?

Thank you so much.

after looking at the document itself....

you probably will fall into "Electrical/Electronic technician" level. Code 3112.

See section M
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/emplo ... fpractice/

This is 20,400 per annum salary but it is minimum and if you are getting paid more than it should be ok because the recommended salary is just to check if you are ALEAST paid the minimum amount. There is no upper limit.

regards

PS. Code 5249 might also be relevant
